Empowering Vulnerable Children Through Education and Life Skills
Melkbos Care Centre was founded in 2006 by Keilah Papakostadinou, after she saw the need for underprivileged children to be in a safe space after school. The Care Centre became a space for the children where they could eat, do homework and spend their holidays.

hOLIDAY cLUB
We present an annual holiday club during the winter break in June/July. Children are encouraged to attend as workshops focus on life skills, emotional development, body awareness and hygiene and some fun and games. It is also an opportunity to engage one-on-one to make sure the children have a safe space to talk about issues that affects them personally.
Volunteering opportunities for this project is available as well as sponsorship for children to attend.

OUR BIGGEST PROJECTS
Currently we are in the process of erecting a small building to house a library in memory of Ms. Sylvia Kirstein, a teacher whose passion it was to teach children to read.
We are also actively working on fundraising for two more classrooms and a kitchen to accommodate the increased need to expand into classes accommodating mother tongue teaching.
There is also a need to expand the transport program to shorten the transport time to and from schools.
If you are able to assist in any of these areas, please contact admin@melkboscarecentre.org
Equipping minds. Uplifting lives.
Mentorship & Support
Access to basic resources and opportunities can significantly change the trajectory of a young person’s life. Our programme focuses on bridging these gaps by providing essential support, fostering confidence, and opening doors to future opportunities.
